The easiest way to get to the event venues is by public transport. During the Eurovision week, public transport services in Basel will be significantly expanded, especially at night. Ticket holders for the events in the St. Jakobshalle, the Arena plus and the EuroClub can travel to and from the local transport networks free of charge. There are also various discounts on travel by public transport.

Prohibited items

The safety of all visitors is a top priority at our events. For this reason, there is a strict ban on bags at St. Jakobshalle, Eurovision Village, EuroClub and Arena plus. We advise all visitors to only bring items that fit in their pockets.

Prohibited items

The following items are not permitted in the St. Jakobshalle, St. Jakob Park or Eurovision Village:

  • Bags, Backpacks, Handbags etc.*
  • Food and Drinks**
  • Camcorders, professional cameras, selfie sticks, notebooks and tablets
  • Weapons or objects that can be misused as such, laser pointers, explosives, fireworks and flammable substances
  • Sports and leisure equipment, skates, scooters, bicycle helmets, umbrellas
  • Political, religious, vulgar or commercial messages
  • Drugs and illegal substances
  • Animals, including guiding dogs
  • Flags that do not comply with the flag policy
  • The organizer reserves the right to amend this list at any time.

*Bags may only be carried for medical purposes. A doctor’s certificate is required. Crutches may be brought and stored under the seats.

Flag policy

Flags and banners that do not pose a risk to safety or production are permitted, provided that the following conditions are met:

  • The flags must not violate Swiss law. This means:
    …no flags with racist or discriminatory content, including symbols that incite hatred or violence.
    …no flags that could be considered offensive or defamatory.
    …no flags with symbols of banned terrorist organisations.
  • A maximum of one flag per person is allowed.
  • The size of the flags must not exceed 1.0 x 0.7 metres.
  • Flags with hard poles (metal, wood) are not allowed.
  • Flagpoles made of plastic, or any other material, must be hollow.
  • All flags must be displayed or waved in such a way that they do not…
    …obstruct the view of other visitors,
    …interfere with smooth TV production,
    …cover emergency exits or signs,
    …pose any other safety risk.

In the event of violations, security personnel and the host broadcaster may…

Lost and found

Did you leave something behind during your Eurovision visit?

Lost property office Eurovision Village, EuroClub, Eurovision Square

We will collect anything lost in the Eurovision Village or Club at the checkroom in Hall 5.

We will also take lost items from Eurovision Square to the checkroom in Hall 5.

 

Lost property office Main Venue St. Jakobshalle

If you lose something in the Main Venue during a show, please contact the Accessibility/Inclusivity Information Point in the St. Jakobshalle. After the doors close, items will be handed in to the accreditation office, where they can be collected during opening hours (7:30 a.m. to 9:15 p.m.). Staff can also contact the Accessibility/Inclusivity Information Point during the show and the accreditation office after the show regarding lost items.

Delegations can collect their lost items from the Delegation Desk in the Delegation Bubble.

Lost property office Arena plus

We will take anything found in the Arena plus to the Basel-Stadt lost and found office.

After the ESC (from May 19, 2025)

After the Eurovision from Monday, 19 May, lost property that has not yet been collected will be taken to the Basel-Stadt lost and found office and can be collected there within three weeks:

If you find out who the item belongs to (e.g. by ID in your wallet), it is best to contact the person directly. If no owner can be found, you can hand the item in to us. Please also let us know where you found the item. Thank you very much!

Accessibility

Accommodation

The host city is making every effort to provide as much accommodation as possible, especially during the Eurovision week. In particular, on the opening weekend of 10-11 May 2025, there are still many hotel beds and overnight accommodation options on other platforms such as booking.com or Airbnb. In the picture

When attending the Eurovision Song Contest, you may appear in a picture or video for various reasons. On the one hand, photographers and filmmakers will be out and about to document this unique event. On the other hand, there will be video surveillance at certain points for event security.

The Eurovision Song Contest is a unique experience: that is why we want to document it as well as possible. We draw the attention of visitors to the shows in the Main Venue (including rehearsals), the official EBU events and the side events to the fact that image, sound or video recordings may be made of them, which may be used and published by the Host City, the SRG and the EBU or third parties authorized by them for advertising purposes and for reporting. The same applies to recordings made by third parties engaged by the Host City during the preparation, staging or dismantling of the aforementioned events.

Video surveillance of the cantonal police organization during the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC)

Operation of a fixed video surveillance system

During the Eurovision, the cantonal police will operate its own fixed video surveillance system with a total of 12 cameras at five locations in public areas (see overview map below).

The following areas and streets will be monitored: Steinenvorstadt and parts of Heuwaage, Stänzlergasse, and Steinenstapfelberg; Barfüsserplatz and parts (entrance areas) of Steinenberg, Gerbergasse, and Streitgasse; Unterer and Oberer Rheinweg, as well as the Rhine embankment and the Rhine between Johanniterbrücke and Wettsteinbrücke.

Legal

This surveillance is based on § 17 of the Information and Data Protection Act of the Canton of Basel-Stadt.

Purpose

The video surveillance system is intended to prevent criminal acts and detect them in good time. It is also intended to aid in the reconstruction, investigation, and prosecution of criminal acts and to enable the coordination and deployment of resources.

Operating

The video surveillance system is in operation around the clock from May 10 to May 18, 2025.

Transmission and recording.

The video data is not accessible to the public. The video images are transmitted in real time to the situation center of the emergency services and security organization ESC (EO BORS ESC) via a secure and encrypted connection and recorded.

Disclosure

The data will only be disclosed for use in criminal or civil proceedings.

Deletion period

The maximum storage period is 48 hours. After this time, the recordings are automatically deleted and are no longer available.
