Public Viewings for the Eurovision Song Contest 2025

In May 2025, the 69th Eurovision Song Contest will take place in Basel. For those who cannot experience the event live on-site, public viewings offer a fantastic opportunity to enjoy the Eurovision atmosphere with friends. Organizers need to keep a few things in mind. Important Information for Organizers

Public viewings with more than 300 expected guests must be registered with the national broadcaster SRG SSR in advance. Each event must be registered individually; simultaneous registration for multiple events is not possible. Registration is done via the official registration form below. Public viewings that are smaller than 300 people or take place outside Switzerland cannot be registered with the SRG.

Free Entry

All public viewings must be free for guests – no entry fees or other costs are allowed. 

Rights & Obligations

Organizers are responsible for complying with all legal requirements, including SUISA fees, noise regulations, outdoor sound systems, and any catering licenses. 

Payment to SUISA

Since copyright applies to public performances of music, organizers must pay a licensing fee to SUISA. Further information on rates and registration can be found on the official SUISA website at www.suisa.ch/de/Kunden/Weitere-Tarife/Public-Viewing.html. 

Trademark Protection

The Eurovision Song Contest is a protected brand. The official Eurovision logo or other Eurovision promotional materials may not be used for advertising or promotion of the event. The official guidelines of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) must be obeyed. 

Sponsoring

Own sponsors are not allowed. Only the official Eurovision sponsors may be mentioned or presented in connection with the event. Events using the broadcast signal from SRG SSR may not be combined with other sponsorship partnerships. 

Example of Correct Communication 

  • Allowed: “Organizer Citylife invites you to the public viewing of the Eurovision Song Contest.”  
  • Not Allowed: “This event is supported by Brewery Holdeburg and Shopping Center Grünau.”
